Our Rheumatology unit is a UK centre of excellence for clinical care, training and research.
The department deals with the investigation, diagnosis and management of patients with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions. This incorporates many disorders affecting joints, bones, muscles and soft tissues, including inflammatory arthritis and other systemic autoimmune disorders, gout, vasculitis and soft tissue conditions.
The academic unit is highly respected and is involved in clinical and laboratory-based research. Our patients have the chance to participate in clinical trials and have access to the latest drugs and treatments.
Our service hosts a Behçets’s Syndrome Centre of Excellence, one of only there centres in the country to offer a clinic of this kind.

While consultant-led, the centre is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team that provide a high quality, patient focused specialist service to patients with rheumatic diseases. The team provide both inpatient hospital care and out-patient clinics and have access to the medical day care unit to deliver infusions.

Aintree Arthritis Trust
Aintree Arthritis Trust (700627) is a registered local charity, separate to The Aintree University Hospital Charitable Fund (1050542). The Aintree Arthritis Trust is devoted to funding research and education in to the causes and treatments of the various forms of arthritis.
The centre accepts referrals from GPs and hospital specialists.
