The team works with a wide range of people who have complex conditions such as brain injury, Cerebral Palsy, Guillain Barre Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Muscular Dystrophy or Spinal Injury. The team is commissioned to;

  • Carry out assessments with clients and their family/carers and local professionals 
  • Provide specialised environmental control equipment
  • Support and maintain the equipment provided.
  • Offer advice and support to local professionals and others supporting those with the potential to use this equipment.
  • Deliver training and education to support local professionals (North West) and students
  • Create resources and information to support local teams and those using assistive technology.

The following table shows examples of the solutions we can provide all of which can be used with a range of switches from a simple buddy button to an eye gaze camera as well as voice control.

Access to infra-red TV remote controls including satellite channels, DVD and radio

Paging system / raising the alarm

Switch access pager to call for carers and family as an aid to independence and not an emergency call system. Integration with community alarm systems can be arranged if possible.

Home access

Intercom to front door with lock release to allow entry to family, friends and carers.

PC and IOS/Android access

Specially designed keyboards and mouse. Eye trackers, head pointers.
