Aintree’s Head and Neck team has organised a cancer awareness event for colleagues and the public.
This will be taking place on Friday 2 February from 11.30am-2pm in the Boardroom at Aintree University Hospital, guests can get an oral cancer check, hear from Aintree’s experts and listen to experiences of patients from the Head and Neck support groups. There will also be representatives from Macmillan Cancer Support and the Clinical Research team.
Professor Simon Rogers, Senior Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, said: “We want to use this event to raise awareness of the symptoms to look out for and treatment options available. Early detection is key and gives patients the best chance of effective treatment. Parts of Liverpool, Merseyside and Cheshire have the highest rates of Head and Neck Cancer in the UK. This is reflected in the fact that Aintree sees more head and neck cancer patients than any other unit in England.”
