The Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) is a set of specific measures that will enable NHS organisations to compare the experiences of disabled and non-disabled staff. This information will then be used by the Trust to develop an action plan and show progress against indicators of disability equality.
By implementing the WDES, this will enable the Trust to better understand the experiences of our disabled staff and enable a more inclusive environment. The WDES will also allow us to identify good practice and compare our performance with similar Trusts.
The inaugural WDES is due to be published in Summer 2019 and the Trust will be expected to review its data and report against the metrics by Spring 2019.
