Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is committed to promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in conjunction with improving health and employment outcomes for staff and patients. The Trust aims to deliver services which are moulded in collaboration with local Healthwatch organisations, local communities and are responsive to the diverse needs of our employees, our patients as service users and their families.
In 2014, a comprehensive 4 year action plan stating the Trust’s Equality Objectives was established as a means to achieve the general duties under the Public Sector Equality Duty. The Equality Objectives that were set are as follows:
- To increase the Trust’s capacity to identify discrimination, harassment and victimisation by developing its workforce and patient data systems to cover all groups that sit within the nine protected characteristics
- To improve, year on year, the reported patient experience of groups with protected characteristics where evidence demonstrates that this is below average for all patients
- To provide information in a variety of ways for patients whose first language is not English, for those who are hard of hearing and or partially sighted or blind in order to improve their experience
- The Trust will reduce health inequalities for groups with protected characteristics by improving access to key services.
