The Board sets the overall policy and strategic direction for the Trust and is responsible for the Trust’s overall performance, accountable to the Council of Governors. The Board approves and monitors its business plan, budgets and major capital expenditure and monitors performance against objectives. The Chairman of the Trust chairs the Board of Directors and ensures that a strategic vision and strategy is developed. He chairs the Council of Governors and acts as a bridge between the Council and the Board of Directors.
Board members also sit on Board Committees (Audit, Remuneration & Nominations, Quality & Safety and Finance & Performance) to enable a greater focus to be given to key issues and for these Committees to provide assurance to the wider Board.
The Chief Executive is the Accountable Officer and, as such, is responsible for ensuring operational delivery of the Trust’s objectives.
