Foundation Trust

Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Aintree University Hospital, has been authorised to operate as an NHS Foundation Trust.

This means that we have greater freedom from central government control and the ability to ensure that we develop and deliver healthcare services that meet the local population’s needs and priorities.

The unique change is that, for the first time, local people are being given the opportunity to have their say in how hospitals are run and to help shape their future development.

You can participate in this initiative by becoming a member of Aintree University Hospital and joining our Membership Scheme.

Membership allows patients, staff and local people, age 16 or over, to become part of the organisation and - for those who are particularly interested - to stand for election to the Council of Governors.

Membership is free, and allows Members to get information about the Trust and its services; be consulted on plans for future developments; vote in the election for the Board of Governors; be eligible to be appointed as a Non-Executive Director or Chair; attend the Members' Meeting at the AGM.
